Hello Travel Fam,
This Monday is a bit slower than others — not feeling the best today. (Anyone else?) But that’s okay! Some days you need to take a little time for yourself to recoup & recover so you can take charge the rest of the week! So that's my plan, a bit of R & R and then come back hopefully feeling ready to go. So if your Monday has been like mine, give yourself a break. Pour another cup of tea and do what you can, but don't try to do everything. Have a great rest of your day friends 💕 Speak soon~ Happy Lazy Day, Travel Fam!
Can you believe we are closing out another decade? It's going to be a new year soon and I'm taking a day off to be lazy and reflect on 2019. It's been a year of years, for sure! So much has happened that I never expected! I don't know about you, but I'm feeling so optimistic about the next decade! Have you felt the shift? It seems like things are finally falling into place and all that hard work is paying off. I'm so happy to be working on amazing new projects as we end the year/decade and take my art to the next level! Can't wait to see what 2020 brings! Hello fellow rebels ~ Are you as tired of work as I am? AGGH! I'm ready for a loooong vacation. I know when I get stressed at work I cannot create or do much of anything. It seems I'm spending more time doing paperwork or sitting in meetings lately than actually working...sigh. So what to do? I find doodling really eases my mind and lets the tension flow out. While I'm making phone calls or when I need to just take a break from EVERYTHING - I draw. I do color some of my random drawings, but I think just the act of free drawing really helps the mind settle down and relax. But enough about my eyes...I actually did accomplish a lot today & I think taking a break to color and doodle really helped. I've been using this trick for about three years now and it really surprises me how easy it is. What do you do to beat stress and relax? Share your ideas below..
Catch you later~ Hey! How are things? I'm in the middle of planning a trip today and was thinking about some of the more interesting questions folks ask me when I'm traveling. Now don't get me wrong, for me travel is a way of life and meeting interesting people and having adventures is part of the fun. But I must be very approachable, because people do not hesitate to ask me off hand questions at every turn. Is it just me or does this happen to everyone? "You don't look like your passport!" Said by every customs agent everywhere. I usually reply, "Thank God! Because I was ill then," or something like that. They have never given me any real grief over it, so I must not look THAT DIFFERENT, lol (The picture is rubbish and I will not post it, lol but take my word for it!) But I honestly don't tend to look the same in any pictures and since I color my hair as a hobby, I do tend to look different everyday. (As you may have noticed on here.) Next common question: "Where's your husband?" I don't get offended anymore when people (men) ask. I guess for some people (men) it's tough to imagine a woman traveling that much? Another really common question I hear is: "What are you doing here?" or "How did you get here?" People seemed surprised that anyone would visit their region or even their countries. Usually I answer pretty straightforward, by telling them a plane or a train or a bus or whatever. I always run into people who have never left their own countries and cannot image anyone coming all the way from America to see their area. Travel really is a mindset as much as anything else. Leaving Rotterdam, Norway a youngish train attendant was talking to me about which route was best to take to get to the port and seemed to be caught off guard by me returning to America via a ship. "How long does it take? It takes 6 months, right?!" Funny but a lot of people still seem to think it takes months to cross the sea. #WTF?! The number one question French women ask me, when they find out I grew up in south Texas: "Are cowboys real?" Another common question I hear is: "Is Trump for real?" It is usually asked by everyone who sees my American passport. Another common question or actual statement I hear often in England is: "There is nothing older than 200 years in America! Nothing there to see so you come to Europe!" Ugh! I usually just smile at this and walk away, because its not my job to educate people. This is Chaco Canyon in New Mexico it was occupied from around 800A.D., to the 1,200s. There are plenty of Native American sites across America that are even older.
What are you often asked when you travel? I'd love to hear so leave me a comment below. See you at the airport! My Fit Fab Fun Winter Box arrived today! I was surprised that the add ons also shipped with it. From what I had read on line it sometimes takes weeks for them to ship (and to not worry, they are in transit) so I was pleasantly surprised. I will review the box fully in a day or two, but I can tell you now that I was happy with it. Catch you later! It's almost my birthday. (13 Aug) But the fun and surprises have already started! :D I'm taking off a FULL WEEK of work beginning in a few hours! Can you tell I'm super excited? I have actually been receiving birthday gifts all month long. #superspoilt
I'm so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and be surrounded by people that care about me! There are a few adventures planned this weekend and I'm going to attempt to load some of the old blog posts I have never finished too. So maybe I can sorta get caught up over the next few weeks. But in the meantime let's party! See you at the airport! And Other Adventures3....2....1....WEEKEND! And suddenly it's over! Kinda feels that way, doesn't it? This weekend was no exception. I wrote about the balloon and such here - and then realized I hadn't finished this post from the 8th. I could actually do a whole tag on "Weekend Adventures I Never Finish" lol - I didn't work that weekend either and rather than go out of state (or country) I stayed around here. Saturday was still busy and over too quickly. I ran errands and went to visit a friend and marvel over their garden. We had snow just a few days ago and the weather was quickly shifting to Spring. #Yeah! You saw most of my weekend on SC, but if you missed it I shall surmise it below. It was a day full of surprises! I could/should do a whole post on that..perhaps some other day. For now lets just enjoy the roses. We had a lovely visit! Her back yard has raised beds, trails and waterlily pond! (But they are a work in progress and she would kill me if I posted pictures though - so just take my word for it.) It was lovely to be outside and catch up. #Bestway2spendSaturday Sunday I was hoping to start that new book and lay in bed all day. #Goals That of course didn't happen. But that of course, didn't happen. I was hoping to sleep in and read until noon, but my friends had other ideas. I love all the hiking trails and open spaces here. But I admit I rarely take the time to enjoy them. The weather cooperated and we had a lovely day! It was another awesome day to be outside with good people. We were only gone a few hours, but we should have packed a picnic. I was famished! Fresh air and all the climbing made me uber hungry - so I volunteered to cook. So from there it was a quick trip to the market and then back to my house for brunch. I made pancakes and egg less "scrambled egg"s + of course I always have fruit. For it to be a low key weekend, it was really nice. One of my goals this year was to work less, and make more time for simple things.
So far, so good :D Catch you later- |
